The Department of Psychiatry at McMaster University has entered into a partnership with Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Uganda. Recently, MUST received approval of their psychiatry postgraduate curriculum marking the second postgraduate training program in this country of approximately 36 million. This partnership, termed “McMUST” was initiated with the goal of in developing educational capacity and leadership at MUST as well as enhancing the robustness of training opportunities for MUST and McMaster University psychiatry learners through routine educational exchanges.
Impact
1) Increase the number of qualified Psychiatrists in Uganda 2) Develop a sustainable postgraduate training program at Mbarara University of Science and Technology 3) Increased involvement of McMaster Psychiatry faculty in the partnership 4) Increased capacity for global mental health scholarship in MUST and McMaster partners (i.e., faculty and residents)
