McMaster Works with U21 on Engagement with African Research Universities

McMaster University is partnering with the top research universities in Africa on research, student exchange and faculty development through the U21 global consortium of research universities. Vice-Provost Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh joined U21 Provost Dr. Jenny Dixon and other U21 delegates at the conference of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. The theme was “Reimagining the Future of Higher Education in Africa.” Africa is a regional focus of McMaster’s global engagement strategy and OIA sees possibilities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
McMaster is involved with the African Research Universities Alliance & U21: Early Career Researcher Collaborative Awards. This funding opportunity aims to support research projects led by Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from universities that are members of ARUA and U21 networks. These projects will be conducted using ARUA’s Centres of Excellence as specialized research hubs. Focus areas of research include food security, climate and development, and water.
