The current pandemic crisis jeopardizes traditional patterns of student mobility. As the pandemic continues, we, as international education practitioners, must begin to strategically reinvent our programs, modifying our inbound and outbound mobility models to fit the needs of the current climate and guarantee alternative options to students who are still searching for an international experience. Furthermore, we must ensure Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) can maintain and develop strategic partnerships with HEIs outside their home country during these challenging times. In order to provide an alternative to its members, the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) has developed and implemented the Virtual Mobility Space in Higher Education (eMOVIES, from its Spanish acronym Espacio de Movilidad Virtual en Educación Superior), with 71 HEIs participants from 12 countries.
