Large scale geometry, also known as coarse geometry, plays an important role in geometric group theory, algebraic K-theory, non-commutative geometry, and related areas of analysis. In recent years, large scale geometry has grown into a subject in its own right, largely due to its interactions with these other vibrant subjects.
