Through a partnership with Offord Center at McMaster University, UCLA is licensed to administer a US version of the EDI. The EDI is a key component of the Center’s national Transforming Early Childhood Community Systems (TECCS) Initiative.
Impact
Goals are to: - Produce valid and reliable data and maps representing children’s health and development - Engage city stakeholders in interpreting the data, and brainstorming local strategies for addressing geographic and domain specific variations in outcomes - Foster collaboration to test local strategies for improving population outcomes - Connect participating L.A. cities to a National Learning Network to to accelerate early childhood community systems improvement.
Student Experience
Students had the opportunity to assist with various aspect of the project, such as data analyses, literature reviews, and creation of technical reports. This opportunity helped to inform students’ understanding of international partnerships while furthering their research skills.
