In 2012, Phase 1 of a study was implemented in Scotland to discern how well communities were preparing their children for school. The EDI was collected again as part of Phase 2 to identify progress in early childhood development. The results of the EDI informed future work of health, educational, and social work agencies.
Impact
The project provided information on the developmental health of children in East Lothian, Scotland. The region of East Lothian was able to measure change in outcomes from the previous implementations and examine the factors which may have influenced these changes. This information can inform public policy and resource allocations.
Student Experience
Enhanced student’s understanding of early education and development in Scotland while providing the student with the opportunity to work with partners abroad.
