Preliminary research suggests that physical activity, especially during childhood and adolescence, may predispose select individuals to the development of cam lesions of the femoral head and neck junction that are inherent to FAI morphology. PREVIEW is a pilot prospective cohort study to provide feasibility data for a large global study that will critically evaluate the impact of sport activity and FAI development during the critical phase of hip maturation.
Impact
Given differences in popular sports played by minors in different countries, we have involved several international co-investigators on this study from Korea, Brazil, Spain, and the USA in order to evaluate the impact of various sports on hip morphology in the pediatric population
Student Experience
Medical students and residents from McMaster University will perform and present the findings from this study to the international community.
