The Global Health Office has welcomed more than 300 faculty from across the globe since 2005, to share knowledge, best practices, and innovative educational methodologies in health sciences. Emphasizing the value of an experiential and interdisciplinary learning environment, the Institute invites participants to learn from health professionals who are experts in their fields, and to see firsthand how Problem Based Learning is taught across health sciences. New sessions in the curricula include indigenous health, large group innovations, human resources in health research and global health.
Impact
Most participants are educators responsible for curriculum and program planning. They attend the institute to connect and benefit from McMaster’s international reputation for innovation in higher education. Through the IISI's interactive interdisciplinary learning environment, the Institute invites participants to learn from health professionals while also engaging McMaster faculty to learn about health systems worldwide, to strengthen institutional partnerships across the globe.
Student Experience
Undergraduate and graduate students are involved in planning and implementation of the institute sessions related to student perspectives, interprofessional learning, and role playing. Alumni and graduate students also partake in leading sessions.
