This project was a part of early stages in the development of the MELQO set of measures for children in early learning settings: direct assessment, teacher, parent rating, and quality of preschool. It is led by a team at the University of Nebraska and World Bank. It included analyses of early pilot data (direct, parent, and teacher ratings) from 5 countries. It contributed to further refinement of tools.
Impact
The early psychometric analyses contributed to the development of a set of tools that are now being available for use in program evaluation and impact assessment.The project is filling the need of providing a set of reliable, globally applicable measures and is being used in a number of countries, mostly sponsored by the World Bank.
Student Experience
Students had the opportunity to assist with various aspect of the project, such as data analyses, literature reviews, and creation of technical reports. This opportunity helped to inform students’ understanding of international partnerships while furthering their research skills.
