McMaster attends NAFSA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo
This year at NAFSA 2024, staff of McMaster’s Office of International Affairs, Student Success Centre (SSC) and Communications, Marketing & Public Affairs Office (CPMA) with over three dozen current and future university partners discussed renewal and the establishment of new collaborative agreements and had numerous drop-in visitors.
NAFSA is among the world’s preeminent international education fairs for global higher education institutions to meet with colleagues from other international offices and has an annual attendance of approximately 6000-8000 international education professionals.
Our busy meeting schedule allowed us to connect or reconnect with a large number of key strategic partners and fellow members of the U21 consortium, such as the University of Glasgow, Tecnológico de Monterrey, University College Dublin and University of Zurich, to discuss ways to enhance current collaborations and create new exchange agreements and mobility engagements where opportunities exist. We were also able to meet with many more world-class universities to discuss opportunities for new exchange agreements and the promotion of other collaborative pathways, such as Erasmus+ programs.
NAFSA 2024 also represented a milestone for McMaster’s participation in the major international education fair landscape (including NAFSA, EAIE, APAIE and CAEI) as this is first year we’ve hosted a dedicated booth for McMaster within the EduCanada pavillion provided by Global Affairs Canada. This allowed the OIA in collaboration with the CPMA office and SSC to deliver a strong brand presence at the conference, as well as the practical utility of having a central meeting point for scheduled and drop-by meetings. This collaborative effort made our presence at the conference brighter!
