The World’s Challenge Challenge 2023
McMaster University is pleased to announce participation in the World’s Challenge Challenge (WCC) 2023 competition.
The WCC is a global competition open to all undergraduate and graduate McMaster students. Participants will submit a 5 – 7 minute video presentation in teams of 2 to 4 members on a solution to a specific global issue as identified in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (also known as The Global Goals). We encourage your team to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds and areas of study. Teams will be advantaged by incorporating multi-disciplinary approaches. The deadline to submit your presentation is 11:59pm, May 10, 2023.
Important Dates:
- McMaster team submission deadline 11:59 pm, May 10, 2023
- Winning teams, McMaster round, will be notified by mid May, 2023
- International round, WCC Final – June 5-8, 2023 in person in Western University
Winning teams of the McMaster round will be notified by mid May, 2023. The 1st place winner will receive $1500.00 and advance to the International round, WCC Final – June 5-8 2023. The 2nd place winner will receive $1000 and 3rd place winner will receive $500.
The top McMaster winning team will advance to compete against other schools at the International WCC Final, held from June 5-8, 2023 at Western University in London, Ontario. The winning team of the WCC International Round will win $30,000, the 2nd place team will win $15,000, and the 3rd place team will win $7,500. Prizes will be paid out evenly among team members and given with the intention that the prize money will help further develop the proposed solution and support implementation of their idea.

To apply, fill out the submission form below and follow the instructions for uploading your video. WCC 2023 Competition will be done virtually on all levels. Video submissions are due 11:59pm, May 10, 2023.
