Diverse research collaborations and partnerships give Ocean Canada the capacity for developing far-reaching, policy-relevant recommendations for protection, conservation and management of coastal and ocean resources. It differs from previous work in acknowledging the centrality of human dependence and of life on earth on the health of the oceans. McMaster and Carleton provide a home to the Ocean Canada Arctic Ocean Working Group.
Impact
Interventions at UN-sponsored events such as Ocean Day 2017 in New York, the Joint Working Group on SDG 14, and links with Indigenous Peoples from around the world, create opportunities for rapid mobilization of knowledge.
