Hosted by the International Communication Association (ICA) (I am currently President), 20 international communication scholars from around the world, including Africa are organizing a workshop with regional organizing group in Uganda and Kenya for 150 participants. The workshop provides team training and individual mentoring aiming to increase research capacity and ultimately to the number of publications by African scholars in the communication field and to increase their presence in ICA.
Impact
The project will train up to 150 students, and produce training materials that will be available to other African scholars. The project also increases regional and international networking, seeks to mentor junior African scholars to assume ICA leadership and leadership in the field. The workshop builds upon our first successful regional ICA conference (Nairobi 2016) and builds toward our first annual conference to be held in Africa (Accra, 2025)
Student Experience
This project focuses on training graduate students and junior faculty on the African to secure skills and knowledge regarding peer reviewed and non peer reviewed publication practices and processes. It is intended specifically to train junior scholars to advance as communication scholars and to particular in international scholarly networks and international research projects.
