Working with OB, PH collaborators, developed android app to help reduce persistently elevated MMR in Aceh province with multi pronged approach. No funding to move ahead with project development currently but hope to secure in future.
Impact
Reduction in maternal mortality as ultimate goal however shorter term goals to provide research support for Indonesian colleagues and try and improve both data collection and health linkages in rural areas. Education of midwives, OBs , trainees about collaboration between public health and primary care. Develop stronger notion of Family Medicine in Indonesia.
Student Experience
Gave two residents who joined me (not from McMAster interestingly), experience with the challenges of research in developing world context. In addition cultural intelligence and senstivity required as under Sharia law in Aceh province.
