McMaster’s Associate VP International Affairs, Peter Mascher, signed memoranda of understanding with two of Israel’s leading post-secondary institutions, Hebrew University (HU) of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University. The agreements will create a framework for academic collaboration, experiential education, joint research projects, and product development for global markets in many disciplines across the university. Of particular interest to both partners is collaboration with the McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART).
Impact
Dr. Stelios Georgiades, co-director of MacART, is a member of the Autism Center's International Advisory Board. The Autism Center has used MacART's model of research and collaboration to develop their interdisciplinary efforts bridging several faculties within the Hebrew University, The Jerusalem Mental Health Center, and affiliated hospitals. Dr. Georgiades is also exploring the possibility of travelling to Israel, being invited to give a lecture series.
Student Experience
Working with the Ontario Brain Institute on developing a post-doctoral exchange program will allow students/trainees working in the field of autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders to gain international education and experiences.
