The Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program (CHAP) intervention model might be particularly suitable to low income countries due to its low cost, implementability and focus on population-based health promotion and disease prevention. The CHAP-Philippines project adapts the program to the local setting with a focus on diabetes.
Impact
This project will 1.identify optimal ways to adapt elements of the CHAPP model to fit local LMIC conditions (sociocultural, economic, environmental) while focussing on the prevention and management of diabetes 2. To evaluate the effectiveness, feasibility/acceptability, and cost-effectiveness of the CHAPP intervention for use in rural communities in LMICs 3. To foster uptake of findings from the CHAPP program to other organizations and groups in the Philippines and other LMICs
Student Experience
MPH students and Global Health students in both Canada and the Phillipines have been involved in data collection and papers.
