OIA Holds Town Hall for International Education Week 2023

The Office of International Affairs presented "An Analysis of Internationalization at McMaster: Current Status and Ways Forward" to faculty and staff in the Social Sciences Community Room, L.R. Wilson Hall.
On Monday afternoon, the Office of International Affairs presented “An Analysis of Internationalization at McMaster: Current Status and Ways Forward” to faculty and staff to kick off the first event of International Education Week.
The hybrid event offered a presentation from Vice-Provost, International Affairs, Bonny Ibhawoh, and OIA Director, Amira El Masri, focusing on the outcomes of comprehensive environmental and institutional scans.
A summary of available data on McMaster’s internationalization activities such as international student recruitment and experience, student mobility, international partnership agreements, alumni engagement, and international collaborative research publications, among other methods of international engagement at McMaster University.
This knowledge offered a better understanding of McMaster’s international education landscape at different institutional levels, gauged the depth, scope, and coordination of these efforts, and highlighted areas where there are gaps in institutional knowledge due to a lack of data and areas where further coordination is needed. This knowledge helps in understanding the current status of internationalization and global education initiatives at McMaster which is critical in planning for our strategic future goals and setting our milestones.
