McMaster’s OIA and Department of Athletics & Recreation welcome Nanjing Sport Institute Delegation

The Office of International Affairs along with the Department of Athletics & Recreation welcomed a delegation from Nanjing Sport Institute (NSI) led by Vice President Aihua Xiao on the morning of November 22, 2024.
The delegates learned more about McMaster’s athletics and recreation programs at McMaster as well as a brief on McMaster’s kinesiology, sport rehabilitation, health education and sports therapy academic programs and research. They ended their visit with a tour of McMaster’s athletics and recreation facilities. The two institutions signed an agreement to support the implementation of short-term specialized learning and experiential programs focused on sport and athletics education.
Nanjing Sport Institute was founded in 1956 and is hailed as “Cradle of World Champions” as it is the only independent institution of higher education in sports and an important provincial training base of competitive sports in Jiangsu Province. It has cultivated many sports industry leaders and Olympic champions. Vice President Aihua Xiao, herself is a fencing Olympian.
