McMaster welcomes University of Liverpool delegation

From June 5-6, 2025, McMaster University was pleased to welcome a visiting delegation from the University of Liverpool (UL), including Professor Fiona Beveridge, Executive Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UL’s Faculty for Humanities and Social Sciences, and Professor Robert Blackwood, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement for UL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Building on the existing $500,000 McMaster-Liverpool Partnership Fund, this visit offered an opportunity for parties to meet and discuss currently funded projects as well as to explore areas for future collaboration with a focus on themes related to our aligned research strengths in Humanities and Social Sciences-related fields.
On June 5th, Prof. Beveridge and Prof. Blackwood met with Dr. Anthea Innes, Director of the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging, as well as Deans Dr. Pamela Swett and Dr. Jeremiah Hurley of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences, respectively.

June 6th saw meetings between the delegation and Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh, Vice-Provost International; Dr. Mohamed Moataz, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering; and Rachael Stevens, Head of Science and Innovation Policy, British Consulate in Toronto.

McMaster and the University of Liverpool began a research and education partnership in 2021 which lead to the creation of the McMaster-Liverpool Partnership Fund in January 2024, when the first round of projects was funded. Bonny Ibhawoh visited the University of Liverpool in March 2025, which you can read about here. McMaster also welcomed visiting faculty from the University of Liverpool in March 2025 for a series of events and workshops. You can read more about this visit in Dr. Mohamed Moataz’s write up, posted here.
