In 2024, the Office of International Affairs welcomed over a hundred international participants to our 20th Summer language and professional training programs in the months of July and August. In addition to the largest cohorts of participants from China and Japan, McMaster hosted students from Mexico, Viet Nam, South Korea and Venezuela joining the Summer English and Cultural Immersion Program, English Program with eHealth focus, Strategic Digital Transformation program and the Health Education at McMaster program for medical professionals. Thanks to the great support of professors from Faculties of Business, Engineering, Humanities, Health Sciences, Sciences, the programs are reviewed by participants that through lectures covering the cutting- edge technologies and research methods, they not only learnt latest technology in their areas of studies, improved English communication skills, but also opened their minds to appreciate cultural differences.
In addition, OIA hosted 10 high school principals from China for collaboration and information sessions on McMaster University, its programs and campus, and introducing them to relevant internal stakeholders. This event took place during the ongoing summer classes OIA hosts since 2015 coordinating courses ranging from e-Health, Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Problem-Based Learning (with Introduction to Evidence-Based Medicine) to English and Cultural Studies for students (high school or undergraduate) for international students.
