McMaster University hosts Professor Hadj Saïd from Université Grenoble Alpes

McMaster University recently welcomed Professor Hadj Saïd from Grenoble INP (part of University of Grenoble Alpes) for a day of productive discussions aimed at identifying opportunities to expand on our long-standing connections.  

The visit began with a meeting with Dr. Babak Nahid-Mobarakeh and a tour of the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC), which explored shared interests in advanced engineering research and identified opportunities for future collaboration. Discussions with Dr. Jun Chen focused on complementary strengths in electrical engineering and emerging technologies, with both institutions expressing interest in developing joint research initiatives. Professor Hadj Saïd and Dr. Hatem Zurob exchanged perspectives on materials science research, researcher mobility, and graduate training opportunities. The visit continued with a meeting with Dr. Jim Cotton, Director of the McMaster Institute for Energy Studies, where conversations centred on energy innovation and collaborative approaches to addressing global sustainability challenges. The day concluded with a tour of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, showcasing the university’s world-class research infrastructure and underscored current ongoing discussions about cooperation with UGA in nuclear science and related technologies.  

Overall, the visit laid the groundwork for developing future research partnerships and building upon existing mobility opportunities.
