McMaster Strengthening relationships with Fudan University

On June 4, Fudan University President Jin Li led a six-member delegation to McMaster University, welcomed by Dr. Ibhawoh and Acting Provost Dr. Hurley. The group, representing expertise in environmental sciences, economics, history, and global engagement, engaged in a productive exchange of ideas and plans.
Dr. Ibhawoh highlighted the longstanding friendship and shared goals between the universities, expressing hope for a stronger strategic partnership. Dr. Hurley outlined McMaster’s research strengths and interdisciplinary programs and identified some promising areas for potential collaboration.
President Jin expressed appreciation for McMaster’s achievements and shared Fudan’s teaching reforms, including AI-focused curriculum redesign to foster students’ global perspectives. Fudan alumni and McMaster faculty Dr. Yufei Yuan and May Zhai from the Office of International Affairs also attended. Dr. Yuan offered insights from his teaching and research experience at McMaster.
The meeting marked a positive step toward expanding cooperation between the two institutions.
