McMaster Celebrates International Education Week 2025

McMaster community was thrilled to celebrate International Education Week 2025 held last week. As part of the celebrations, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) contributed to multiple events open to faculty and staff:
- McMaster’s Mitacs Advisor and the OIA highlighted two key opportunities to enhance international collaboration. The Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program, enables McMaster faculty to participate in short-term research and teaching initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. The session also introduced the Mitacs Globalink Research Award, which supports student research collaborations between Canada and partner countries, co-supervised by both home and host professors.
- We’re excited to welcome Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) to McMaster during IEW. Their visit showcased exciting opportunities for study abroad, student exchange, and exploring French language and culture. During the session, students learned about UGA’s programs, eligibility requirements, and the many ways studying in France can be an enriching and transformative experience.
- In collaboration with SSC and SGS, the OIA presented on the exciting opportunities offered by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), through short-terms scholarships for international students in the 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships play a crucial role in advancing McMaster University’s internationalization efforts, enhancing student mobility, and promoting both Canada and McMaster as premier study destinations.
- The SSC and the OIA had a session about International Youth Internship Program, an opportunity for McMaster students and alumni to travel to West Africa (Liberia and Ghana) to complete a funded research internship. This was an interactive, in-person session and an opportunity to explore applying to join the next cohort, which will depart Canada in May 2026. Similarly, during Exchange and Global Experience Fair, the OIA participated with a booth where students interested in study, research, work or volunteering abroad had a chance to chat with representatives of different global programs for assistance to travel abroad while enrolled at McMaster.
