A McMaster PhD alumnus is helping create new opportunities for the University in Shenzhen, one of China’s major centers for research, technology, and innovation.
Dr. Tao Dong, a professor and Associate Dean of Life Sciences at Southern University of Science and Technology, recently met with Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh, McMaster’s Vice-Provost, International Affairs, to discuss ways to strengthen academic ties between McMaster and universities in Shenzhen.
Together, they explored pathways for researcher and student exchange, as well as opportunities to build broader academic partnerships between McMaster and the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen.
Dr. Dong completed his PhD at McMaster under Dr. Herbert Schellhorn and has since held academic leadership roles in Canada and China. His connection to both McMaster and Shenzhen creates a valuable pathway for future collaboration in a strategically important region.
