Draft Federal Sustainable Development Strategy 2026–2029 by Environment and Climate Change Canada Now Open for Comments

Environment and Climate Change Canada has launched the draft 2026-2029 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) for a 120-day public consultation available for review at this webpage. The draft Strategy lays out the government’s plans to protect our environment, grow our economy, and make sure everyone in Canada lives in an inclusive and resilient society.
The draft Strategy reflects the government’s ambition to build a strong Canada for current and future generations. It includes goals, measurable targets, and implementation strategies that coordinate federal efforts on sustainable development. It also recognizes the importance of partnerships—across all orders of governments, with Indigenous Peoples, with the private sector, and with civil society.
Your comments will help shape and strengthen the final Strategy. We are seeking input from all Canadians—youth, older adults, Indigenous Peoples, business leaders, community organizations, and anyone interested in sustainable development.
Interested individuals can provide feedback by May 12, 2026, using the following methods:
