Congratulations to the 2024-2025 cohort of the Latin American/Latinx Student Mentorship Program

Latin American and Latinx Student Mentorship Program (LALS-MP) was established in the Winter of 2023 by members of the Latin American Network at McMaster University (LANMU). This initiative is specifically tailored to address the needs of existing, incoming, and potential students at McMaster University who are from Latin America and/or its diasporas, since recent census data in Canada shows that the number of people identifying as Latin American/Latinx is growing steadily in the region.
Under the program, any undergraduate, graduate, medical student, medical resident or postdoctoral fellow student who identifies as Latin American/Latinx can be a mentee. First year undergraduate students are mentored by upper-year undergraduate students or graduate students, upper-year undergraduate students will be mentored by graduate students, and graduate students will be paired with other graduate students. Postdoctoral fellows may be mentored by experienced postdoctoral fellows or faculty members.
For the 2024–2025 cohort, over 65 participants—including undergraduate students, graduate students, medical trainees, and postdoctoral fellows from all six faculties—successfully completed the program. Congratulations to all participants on completing this important journey!
