Call for Applications: 2026 Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program

Offered by Global Affairs Canada and China’s Ministry of Education, the Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program (CCSEP) aims to foster a deeper understanding of China, build strong academic and professional ties between Canada and China, and develop future Canadian leaders with expertise in China. CCSEP alumni are part of a distinguished network of professionals who have gone on to build impactful careers in academia, public service, business, and other fields that contribute meaningfully to Canada-China engagement.

Canadian students, faculty, researchers, and mid-career professionals working in public and private sectors are eligible to apply. This prestigious scholarship offers a unique opportunity to pursue post-secondary studies, research, short-term courses for professional development, and Chinese language training at top institutions across China.

Applicants must complete a two-step application process. The deadline to apply through the My EduCanada portal is January 12, 2026, and through the China Scholarship Council portal is March 1, 2026.

Interested students are strongly encouraged to contact the Student Success Centre at macabroad@mcmaster.ca for guidance before submitting their applications. Faculty members can reach out to the Office of International Affairs (Adelina Sylaj at sylaja@mcmaster.ca) for support and application guidance. Doing so will help ensure applicants are aware of any potential funding limitations or other factors that could affect eligibility or participation.
