On May 26, senior leaders from McMaster University met with a delegation from Brno University of Technology (BUT) and Masaryk University (MUNI) in the Czech Republic to explore opportunities for research and academic collaboration.
McMaster was represented by Gianni Parise, Vice-President (Research); Martin Horn, Acting Deputy Vice-President (Research); Matheus Grasselli, Deputy Provost; Bruce Newbold, Acting Dean of Science; and Bonny Ibhawoh, Vice-Provost (International).
The Brno University of Technology delegation included Ladislav Janíček and Iveta Šimberová, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and External Affairs. Masaryk University was represented by Monika Jandová, Vice-Rector for Lifelong Learning, Technology Transfer, and Sustainability.
Building on a broader Czech delegation visit in September 2025, this meeting enabled a more focused discussion on priority areas for collaboration. Key outcomes include plans for BUT and MUNI to share a list of Horizon Europe researchers whose work aligns with McMaster faculty and who are actively seeking consortium partners. The institutions also agreed to organize faculty matchmaking events with each university, to be held in Fall 2026.
