Applications for BCDI 2030- Development of Employability and Training Services in Professional Integration- Now Open

The call for proposals to the Canadian International Development Scholarships 2030 (BCDI 2030)- Development of Employability and Training Services in Professional Integration- announced under are now open. Details of the call are available under the OIA’s funding opportunities page.
Stream 1: DEVELOPMENT OF EMPLOYABILITY

The purpose of this call is to select five to ten Canadian higher education institutions (HEIs), colleges and/or universities that are members of CICan or UnivCan, to prepare teaching materials and provide training workshops and coaching for BCDI 2030 Scholarship recipients, either alone or in consortia (consortia of colleges, universities or college-universities). The five themes presented below support the implementation of an initiative for capacity building of BCDI 2030 Scholarship Recipients (Stream 1 – Scholarships Projects for Studies in Canada) to enhance their employability skills and support their return to their home countries or countries of origin at the end of their study stay in Canada. Theme 1: Developing and implementing a back home plan Theme 2: Self-knowledge and Agency Theme 3: Leadership and Women leadership Theme 4: Developing employability skills Theme 5: Entrepreneurship and Women entrepreneurship McMaster may only be designated as lead for the implementation of one of the five themes and Institutions must submit its application through a central institutional account. |

Stream 2: TRAINING SERVICES IN PROFESSIONAL INTEGRATION

The purpose of this call for proposals is to select three to six Canadian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), either colleges and/or universities that are members of CICan or UnivCan, to develop, alone or in consortia (consortium of colleges, universities or college-universities), teaching materials and career webinars for BCDI 2030 Stream 1 partner educational institutions. This initiative is aimed at 80 HEIs and it is designed to strengthen the professional integration services of partner HEIs, enabling them to better support their graduates and BCDI 2030 Scholarship Recipients on their return to their home countries. To achieve this, the initiative will be rolled out in two distinct phases: Phase 1: Development of teaching materials and offering of webinars Phase 2: Personalized coaching sessions And three terms of reference presented below which support the implementation of an institutional capacity building initiative in professional insertion for HEI partners participating in the BCDI 2030 Stream 1 – Scholarships Projects for Studies in Canada. Theme 1: Student services and Employability skills development: This theme covers the various services offered to students to support them in the different stages of preparing for employment and acquiring employability skills. Theme 2: Internships and work-integrated learning (WIL) This theme emphasizes the importance of work experience during studies in strengthening the links between academic theory and professional practice. Theme 3: Entrepreneurship, women entrepreneurship and self-employment This theme aims to offer support to encourage entrepreneurship and women entrepreneurship as a viable option, and to support business creation. McMaster may only be designated as lead for the implementation of one of the three themes and Institutions must submit its application through a central institutional account. |

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) will coordinate the McMaster submission in collaboration with the International Strategic Advisory Committee (ISAC). Interested McMaster full-time faculty members/staff who are interested in this grant should follow the next steps:
- Concept note submission deadline: Friday, March 21, 2025, to Adelina Sylaj (sylaja@mcmaster.ca) (Concept note template)
- Adjudication and selection of one application: OIA, in collaboration with the International Strategic Advisory Committee (ISAC) will adjudicate concept notes. OIA will communicate results with applicants on Friday, March 28, 2025.
- Internal application submission deadline: Monday, April 7, 2025 to Adelina Sylaj (sylaja@mcmaster.ca) Application components, Budget Template and Grant Approval Application Form).
- External submission deadline: Friday, April 11, 2025. Application will be submitted by the OIA in collaboration with the main applicant.
