Clinicians around the world voted and prioritized various low back pain outcome indicators for older adults with low back pain. Respondents from 22 different countries provided their feedback. The results demonstrated a high consensus on new outcome indicators for older adults different from currently used outcomes in younger adults demonstrating the need to develop, test and use other outcome indicators for this patient group.
Impact
This project raised awareness of first the feasibility of using crowdsourcing as an efficient method to elicit feedback from clinicians around the world. Additionally, the results demonstrated the need to use different outcome measures when evaluating outcomes in older adults. Future research is needed to further develop age appropriate outcomes and knowledge translation strategies are warranted.
