The project involves the field study of selected glaciers along the south coast of Iceland to analyze their characteristics and spatial relationships. This work on modern glaciers aids in the understanding of ancient glacial sediments and landforms.
Impact
Better understanding of modern glacial systems helps us interpret the sediments and landforms of southern Ontario which has been extensively glaciated in the past. This can help in the search and protection of groundwater resources.
Student Experience
This work has involved several graduate and undergraduatee students who have gained enormous experience of conducting field work in challenging environments and sharing data with Icelandic geoscientists.
