As of June, 2016, the Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy estimated that there were nearly 1.8 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine. The Russian annexation of Crimea, and the ongoing conflict with Russian backed separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk puts Ukraine at eighth on the list of countries with the largest number of internally displaced people. This project examines the challenges associated with how various governmental and non-governmental agencies in Ukraine provide assistance to internally displaced people,
Impact
The project seeks to identify the strengths, weaknesses and service gaps associated with internally displaced people resettlement efforts in Ukraine. It seeks to inform both academic analysis of the challenges of refugee resettlement and the NGO and policy community in Ukraine about how to better serve the needs of internally displaced people.
