Impact
The long reach is a better experience, as a society(s) with death dying loss and bereavement. The method is via a more engaged citizenry who mobilize on an ongoing basis in projects and initiatives that demonstrate their social responsibility for caring for their community members.
Student Experience
Students involved in any aspect of PHPCI learn the most important message of all for healthcare providers; death and dying is a social phenomena and must be led by the community. The role of healthcare is specific to health services but healthcare cannot “own’ nor be made responsible for a good death in society. This re-embracing of reality is truly astounding for students. It’s imperative that young learners develop the public health lens they need to be part of social engagement on this, early in their training and careers.
