Every year some students from the Midwifery Education Program (usually 3-10 of 30 eligible) choose to take an international elective with midwives or other maternity care providers in international settings. The settings range from other well resourced countries like Denmark, UK, Netherlands or Australia to placements in African, South American or Asian settings.
Impact
These international experiences are invaluable in helping students obtain a broader perspective on health care internationally. Students are provided with pre-departure preparation, and follow-up sessions to discuss and share their experiences.
Student Experience
This is designed specifically as an optional undergraduate experience for midwifery students.
