Erin Carlson's group at the University of Minnesota, and my group have a long-standing collaboration, that has involved trainees from each of our groups travelling to the other's lab to gain experience in Streptomyces genetics (expertise of my group), and metabolite analysis (expertise of the Carlson group)
Impact
Our collaboration has shed light on new bacterial behaviour, and revealed novel compounds produced by Streptomyces bacteria.
Student Experience
Trainees from both the Elliot and Carlson groups have benefited enormously from the opportunity to gain direct hands-on skills in different areas.
