In order to respond to demands for improved numeracy education a research partnership between George Brown College and McMaster University has been established. The team, led by Taras Gula, Professor of Health Information Management at GBC, and Miroslav Lovric, Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster, works on conceptualizing health numeracy, in order to translate it into learning content for an on-line learning instrument to be developed. The ultimate goal is to improve health numeracy for health sciences students and professionals in health-related fields.
Impact
Improvement in levels of numeracy of various populations within health-related environments. Evidence suggests that health outcomes (in every sense of the word) improve as participants improve their education levels.
