The World Health Organization (WHO) has a surgical division as Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care (GIEESC). As chair of finance for the GIEESC division of the WHO, funding was distributed and raised at several levels at a global level. The focus includes education, equipment, and direct patient care. Voluntary missions are coordinated for a comprehensive approach as a global initiative.
Impact
Surgery, obstetrics, anesthesia and trauma have been coordinated in a comprehensive organization to increase awareness and influence change in the most needed parts of the world.
