Our first objective is to fill information gaps by conducting case studies; documenting and comparing the recruitment, candidate selection and nomination methods in key parties. The second objective is to improve data collection. Our multidisciplinary, distinguished international and local team will conduct elite interviews and a survey to assess attitudes toward male and female politicians at the local levels. Our third objective is to improve research and analytical skills through training activities and comparing regional developments in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Impact
Our research development project that includes data collection, information dissemination, research methods training for a local NGO in Myanmar aims to improve knowledge sharing and develop a gender-perspective in analyzing political participation of men and women at the local and national politics. It will seek to address gender inequality in political participation; and improve gender-sensitive budgeting and public service delivery.
