Changes in biological/circadian rhythms are key components of the neurobiology of mood and other psychiatric disorders. To date, no clinical tools have been validated to measure daily rhythms of mood symptoms. In collaboration with chronobiology research groups in Brazil and Spain we have developed and validated a new self-reported mood rhythm questionnaire in healthy volunteers. Here at McMaster we are validating the English version of this tool first in healthy volunteers and, subsequently, we will validate it in individuals with depression and bipolar disorder.
Impact
This clinical toll will be available to enhance research in the area of biological rhythms in mood and other psychiatric conditions.
Student Experience
Three undergraduate students from McMaster University, Mariana Lanzini, Jasneet Dhaliwal and Kristina Epifano, are greatly benefiting from this international research partnership.
