The Department of Anesthesia, in partnership with the Office of International Affairs organizes and hosts a week long "Approaches to Medical Education; Focus on PBL and EBM" educational faculty development program for visiting faculty from the Shanghai Jiaotong University medical school, in response to their requests for faculty tutor training in PBL. Their primary aim is to build capacity for PBL tutors in the medical school. The educational program also highlights McMaster's expertise in simulation, professional competencies and evidence based medicine.
Impact
This educational program has been running annually since 2011 with an average enrollment of about 24 participants. There continues to be considerable interest in PBL training and learning about the McMaster approach to medical education. The delegates use their training to further their own teaching and curriculum development. This year, we also received additional delegates from the Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
